Colorado real estate CE comparison notes

Colorado brokers complete 24 hours of continuing education over the three-year license period. Per the Colorado Division of Real Estate, 12 of those hours must be three different 4-hour Annual Commission Update (ACU) courses (one per year, due December 31 each year), and the remaining 12 hours are electives. Check that a package includes the correct ACU year(s) you still need, not just electives.

Because the ACU changes each year and you take a fresh one annually, most providers sell a bundle of one current-year 4-hour ACU plus the 12 elective hours — you then repeat only the 4-hour ACU in the other two years. When comparing prices, confirm the bundle carries the current-year ACU, not a prior year’s.

Colorado provider coverage notes

Colorado’s bundled-package market is led by the national catalogs that carry the current-year ACU: The CE Shop, Kaplan, Colibri, McKissock, and the Colorado-based VanEd. Several nationals do not sell a Colorado bundle — AYPO, OnlineEd, AceableAgent, and RealEstateU have no Colorado CE product, 360training routes its Colorado CE to VanEd, and Real-CE’s Colorado package still ships an outdated Annual Commission Update, so it is excluded. Colorado-local schools such as Armbrust Real Estate Institute and the Colorado Real Estate School sell the ACU and electives à la carte (online or in classroom) rather than as a single fixed-price bundle, which is why they are not in the priced table.

What Colorado agents say about renewal CE

Colorado brokers say the Annual Commission Update is the part people get wrong: it must be the current year’s version, and skipping a year mid-cycle leaves you short. Buying the ACU-plus-electives bundle up front, then taking just the 4-hour ACU in years two and three, is the pattern most agents follow.

After compliance, agents optimize on price and completion reporting to the Division. Those who prefer a live classroom use a Colorado-local school for the ACU; self-paced online is the norm for the electives.

Real estate CE is a renewal requirement

Real estate continuing education is for active licensees who need renewal coursework. Provider approval, required topics, completion records, and reporting rules are state-specific, so the state page should be the primary place to compare CE options.

Use the provider table to compare package fit, current discount path, delivery format, and checkout price. Use the state requirement sections below to make sure the course category matches your renewal cycle before you buy.

Colorado CE renewal planning

Colorado real estate CE shoppers should start by matching the course category to the renewal cycle. Look for the exact hour total, mandatory topic mix, completion certificate rules, and whether the provider reports completion directly or gives you a certificate to keep with your renewal records.

Price matters, but renewal fit matters more. A lower-price Colorado CE package can still be the wrong purchase if it is missing mandatory topics, has a completion deadline you cannot meet, or does not match the license type you are renewing.

How to compare Colorado real estate CE providers

  • Check whether the provider sells a complete Colorado real estate CE package or only individual elective courses.
  • Compare final checkout price after codes, partner pricing, or course-category sales are applied.
  • Look at access length, mobile study options, support, certificate delivery, and refund rules before buying.
  • Keep CE separate from post-licensing, SAE, broker education, and pre-licensing requirements unless the provider page clearly labels the package for your exact need.
