Choosing your securities exam fees comes down to matching the exam to your role. This guide separates the introductory SIE, the FINRA representative exams, and the NASAA state-law and adviser exams, then points you to securities exam prep providers — including current CertLaunch partner pricing — so you can compare before you buy.

Securities exam overview

Two costs make up your total: the exam fee you pay FINRA or NASAA, and the exam-prep course you buy to study. The exam fees are fixed; the prep cost is the part you can actually control.

Start with the exam decision

Confirm the exam first, then compare providers. Once you know which exam you need, the securities exam prep comparison shows providers, packages, and current CertLaunch partner pricing in one place so you do not overpay.

FINRA exam fees (SIE, Series 6, Series 7)123

The FINRA exam fees are set by FINRA and paid when you register for the exam. The SIE fee is $100. The Series 6 fee is $100. The Series 7 fee is $395.

These are the exam fees only. They do not include exam-prep materials, and representative exams like the Series 6 and Series 7 also require firm sponsorship, which is handled by your employer.

NASAA exam fees (Series 63, 65, 66)4

The NASAA state-law and adviser exams have their own fees. The Series 63 fee is $147, the Series 65 fee is $187, and the Series 66 fee is $177.

Because the Series 63 and Series 65 need no sponsor, you can register and pay for them on your own. The Series 66 has no sponsor requirement of its own but is used with the Series 7.

The part you can control: exam-prep cost1

Exam-prep courses are separate from the exam fee and vary widely by provider and package. For most candidates, the prep course is the larger and more flexible line item, so it is where comparing providers pays off.

Two providers carry CertLaunch partner pricing across the securities exams: Kaplan Financial Education (20% off, applied automatically) and ExamFX / Training Consultants (30% off with code Cert30). The other providers are shown at standard public prices so you can compare evenly on the exam-prep pages.

Budgeting your total cost1

A simple way to budget: exam fee (fixed, above) plus your prep course (your choice). For example, the SIE is a $100 exam fee plus whatever prep you pick; the Series 7 is a $395 exam fee plus prep. Confirm current fees on the FINRA and NASAA pages before you register, and compare prep before you buy.

Once you know your exam, use the securities exam prep comparison to see current package prices, provider formats, and available CertLaunch partner pricing. Compare before you buy instead of paying the first list price you see.
